Heeyy guys! I’m so happy we all made it into the new year, its indeed a privilege to be alive. So, how’s the New Year been? Already working on your resolutions? Or you’re one of those who think resolutions are unnecessary waste of time too? oh well, do I blame us ? that’s what social media has planted in our hearts. I’ve never really made New Year resolutions too except just tell God what I want in a new year. But then last year, it clicked to me that it is necessary to set clear and defined goals for maturity to set in. Goals that are SMART, SMART the basic characteristics every goal should have no matter how small.
So at the end of the day I picked up a pen and a book and wrote down what I wanted for this year. And every time I look at these goals I’m inspired and of course I’m working on it already.
Lol, I know youths of these days say “it’s just another day, what the big deal you’ll still continue your old ways eventually” but 90% of us that make this statement do not actually make resolutions we just assume. And how are we even believers if we don’t have faith? How do we not believe that we can do all things through Christ that strengthens us. Oh, this one is not about God abi? Lol “don’t bring God matter inside this one oh fadeke” sorry oh, I bring God matter inside everything.
And yes I admit that there’s the 10% that actually made resolutions and it didn’t turn out how they planned. Well sometimes these things happen. In Deuteronomy 8:3 God told Moses to tell the Israelites that he humbled them and suffered them to hunger (by not feeding them manna) just so they can know man shall not live by bread alone but by every word that proceeds out of the mouth of God. That’s how God disciplines his people. You know what that means? It means we are sometimes tested to see how far we will still serve God even in tribulations. So dear, all you need to do is get up and set new goals.
Another thing is most of us make goals (resolutions) that are not SMART. I once told God I wanted a car, I know people have cars at that age (which was why I even had that kind of goal lol) and we were told in church to challenge God sometimes, so I wanted a car at 18 but I couldn’t even drive and I couldn’t even get a license yet. Plus I didnt do anything to work towards it all I did was WANT. See what I mean by unrealistic? Should I now go around saying resolutions are a waste of time?
Thing is most of us make unachievable and unrealistic goals and it just makes us dreamers; we’re allowed to dream of course but let’s set dreams up into realistic, specific, achievable, timely goals and we are on our way to greatness. By timely its means goals (resolutions) should have a timing of when you want them to be achieved that’s what makes it meaningful. Let’s say for instance you decide you want a house but you do not decide the year or location or amount or if you want to buy or build the house, what makes it a goal? But the moment you decide “oh I want to buy a house latest by 2020 in surulere”. That’s when it becomes a goal!
And lastly there’s the place of prayer at all times because sometimes miracles happen in the most unexpected ways, BUT HEAVEN HELPS THOSE WHO HELP THEMSELVES.
Its not too late to make this decision just 25 days gone in 366 days, How bout you try writing down your SMART goals for the year? You don’t have to call them resolutions, if it sounds too cliché, call them my rihanna, my g-wagon, my jollof rice? Lol
Remember our #Fruitful2016 goal from the funmi story? Make sure you win souls for God this year.
